Rally for Cyprus 2015

cyprus-london-rally-2015 As the 41st black anniversary of Turkey’s unlawful invasion and occupation in Cyprus approaches, Cypriots will take to the streets of central London on Sunday 5 July 2015, for the annual Rally for Cyprus. Lobby for Cyprus always endeavours to support this event. Join us and march for freedom from Turkish occupation and to protest against Turkish apartheid in Cyprus. Join us in calling for the 3Rs:

  • Removal of Turkish troops
  • Repatriation of Turkish colonists
  • The right of refugees to return

In 1974 Turkey invaded Cyprus, illegally dividing the country, committing war crimes and mass human rights abuses. 200,000 Greek Cypriots were ethnically cleansed by the Turkish military.

Since then the population of the occupied north has been replaced with Turkish nationals, in an attempt to alter the demographic makeup of the island. Turkey continues to violate international law and United Nations resolutions that demand the withdrawal of the Turkish military, the right to return for Greek Cypriot refugees and an end to Turkey’s policy of colonisation.

Turkey maintains its illegal apartheid regime in the occupied north that discriminates against Greek Cypriots by preventing them from returning to their homes and lands.

Greek Cypriots are the legal owners of 92 percent of land in the occupied north. We will never give up our lands to those who seek to profit from their theft and illegal purchase.

The human rights of Cypriots must be restored so they can live in a truly reunited Cyprus – a single state that protects the fundamental rights of the individual – irrespective of ethnicity or religion.

On Sunday 5 July, Cyprus needs your support.

3pm: March from Belgrave Square
4.15pm: Demonstration at Trafalgar Square

(The Rally for Cyprus is organised by the National Federation of Cypriots)
